Heating & hot water
The thermostat is on the landing. 19–20°C is comfortable; above 22 the boiler sulks. Hot water is on a timer (6–9am, 5–10pm) — for a top-up press Boost on the grey box in the airing cupboard.
The wood-burning stove
- Kindling and firelighters are in the copper bucket; logs live in the yard store (unlocked).
- Open the bottom vent fully to light it, then close it halfway once it's going.
- Glass door shut at all times — the carbon monoxide alarm is on the beam above you, and it's loud.
Kitchen
- The hob is induction — only the pans in the cupboard to the left of the oven work on it.
- Oven: turn the left dial to the fan symbol. 180°C does most things.
- Dishwasher tablets are under the sink; the quick cycle is 58 minutes.
- Bins: green for recycling, black for everything else. Collection is Thursday — please put them at the bottom of the steps on Wednesday night.
TV & wifi
The silver remote does everything. Netflix and iPlayer are signed in — please don't sign out. If the wifi drops, the router is under the stairs: off, count to thirty, on.
Washing machine
30° quick wash takes 28 minutes. Airer is behind the bathroom door.
